The LaPica Project is transforming a former youth detention center and 350-acre farm into a vibrant, intergenerational hub of opportunity and community service. Located in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, this bold initiative brings together a coalition of trusted community builders—spanning education, housing, community health, and economic and workforce development—that has come together to transform La Pica into a place where hope takes root and futures are reclaimed.
Here, youth and adults gain access to education, vocational training, and wellness programs that unlock potential and promote growth. Seniors contribute wisdom, mentorship, and cultural heritage, anchoring a community built on shared history and future-forward vision.
Supported by affordable housing, agricultural revitalization, health services, and local partnerships, LaPica is a place where resilience meets possibility. Together, we’re cultivating a community where every person belongs, every voice matters, and every seed of potential is given the chance to thrive.
